Hello I just ended up installing joomla 3.3 and JD 3.2.11 fresh install. my problem is I ftp my file to my JD category directory and when i go to the JD backend it find the file and change the name by removing the space in between. this is affecting my music player on my side. example: Song - Name will change it to Song-Name removing the two space before and after the - I had disabled WYSIWYG-editor which at first was working find but all the suddenly problem came back and over 600's files where changed.

I think the challenge is in the automatic monitoring.
Did you see the comment "Important information: The 'auto monitoring' function use always the results from the function: 'Remove/Change special characters in name'. Regardless of whether it is activated or not. So you should only use for this files and folders (which are to be added automatically) the characters: a-zA-Z0-9 ._- in the names."?

Hmm is there going to fix this. I remember on jd 1.8.xx Joomla 1.5 I did not have this problem. it is good option to have monitoring on if you upload lots of files together using ftp. I have no problem activating the file but auto monitoring save you lot of time....
My next question is how can i clear the database when i rename the file again. I used ftp to move the file to another directory now jd say its missing the file. how can i clear this? i want to clear everything and upload the files again with correct name and space. thank
I tried this but not working still same problem. It keep removing space between ( - ) and name look at this pic below.

I have now done some tests but I cannot reproduce the problem. ??? Had auto monitoring on, tried uploading from Cpanel file manager and by FTP with FileZilla. All OK. Need to try to isolate differences. Please see pics below - the last two are the setup I tested with.

ColinM I don't understand why you not getting the error. every time I upload a file via FTP I get same error. I tried uploading a PDF file to check if problem was only with mp3 files but same problem. I tried uploading two files using backend upload from jd and problem did not happen so it look like problem is only when upload file via ftp. I tried both filezilla and cyberduck ftp clients and same problem. look at picture below.
Arno thank you I hope next beta fix this problem I cant open my site yet till i can get this problem fix. no rush just want to get to the bottom of this problem and solve what may be a bug on jd

Yes ColinM that fixed my problem sorry I forgot to reply but Arno Fix above did the trick for me. Thank you for your help and for keeping JD one of the best component for Joomla
The fix is now also a part from the version 3.2.12 beta.
