Kommt mit jD 3.3. Bedenke das die Komponente komplett neu geschrieben wurde und daher nicht alles bereits in der ersten Version möglich war.

I have not used Joomla tags yet myself, ::) so could you give me a couple of examples of where they would be of assistance in jDownloads. This would help with the documentation when they are included later in the jD3.3 series. :)

The Tags function is a very important function in a larger download database.
Since JDownloads has a problem. All downloads are into fixed static categories.
Take for example a database of movies. You can take the films in main categories such as action, romance, documentary, etc. but ....
There is more you can search or look.
Then you need the tags. I assign each a movie / download database.
For example: If a film is ... Romantic, unhappy, funny, violence, scenes of love, instructive, for children, only for adults, etc.
Or a download platform with ebooks, there are eg. the categories as bellistrik or non-fiction or fiction, etc. But there it's more you can also search.
For example: If a book is ... romantically, historical novel, short story, drama, fantasy, adventure, politics, travel, eroticism, for childs, etc.
So for example i like ebooks with historical aspects,.. i click on the Tag "historical novel" and so i see alle ebooks with historical content.
Whatever the category in which they are located.
Or e.g: on the site -> http://www.lovelybooks.de/autor/Gillian-Flynn/Gone-Girl-Das-perfekte-Opfer-1054772466-w/
You see the ebook "gone girl" and on the right site (scroll) you see the clickable Tags of the book -> "thriller ehe gone girl mord psychothriller manipulation verschwinden usa spannung hochzeitstag entführung gillian flynn missouri hass ermittlung psycho familie krimi mordverdacht amazing amy" So i click on the Tag e.g . "usa" i will find this ebook and other "usa" Tag ebooks they are from USA.
......
By the way ... the jommla doc link ( http://docs.joomla.org/J3.x:Using_Tags_in_an_Extension ) ... quote: "Joomla's tagging system is used in all core content extensions and is designed to be be EASY to integrate into other extensions that use standard Joomla design patterns." so is it possible to bulid in the JDownloads beta 3.2 ? Thank you for your explanation - I can see the power and usefulness of tags as giving a much free cross selection. Can one 'cascade' tags in order to drill down? I think that might be feasible with the Similar Tags module which appears more dynamic than using one of the new menu types with multiple fixed tags.
I do not know how difficult it is to implement - but I am sure Arno will have no 'challenge' but from the look of it I believe it would need some concentrated time. At the moment we really do need a stable version, and then some missing modules/plugins are desperately required to give at least the capabilities that exist now. Given the power and flexibility of tags I am sure it will then be high on Arno's implementation list. I appreciate your desire but a balance has to be struck given our finite resources.....

As a thought it would help if you could perhaps give some thoughts as to how you would like to see this in jDownloads. My thoughts are as part of the Search facilities and with 'tag cloud' modules like the present ones but focussed on the jDownloads items. Not sure about menu methods. Obviously a field is needed when creating a download that allows tags to be specified.
Any comments, observations or similar appreciated.

I think (for me) it's enough a tag cloud without cascade.
For the Jdownloads 1.9.2 / joomla 1.5 Arno make a coparate with the People form www.solidsystem.it the Tag System "Custom Properties".
And write a additionally script with "Andrea Forghieri". (I add it).

The only Joomla 3.x Tag alterative (for external components) i found is " TorTags 3" from Toxmix -> http://tormix.com/products/tortags.html
This should be work without a additionally script !?!
