Title: bug still exists: settings for the front end are ignored - [Fixed in 3.2.9 !!!]
Post by: carin on 03.06.2014 16:10:46
I reported that bug at http://www.jdownloads.com/forum/index.php?topic=6851.msg26570#msg26570 but since that thread is locked I had to open a new one.

In 3.2.5 I still cannot assign the correct setup to the different user groups.

1. "is a user in multiple groups, is always use the settings from the user group with the highest level" does not work for me, it is not comprehensible which setup is used for what group, in fact I can not see any changes in the frontend no matter what I change in the user group settings
2. the field "category" is always disabled, despite all groups are set to "May select a different Category"

Am I missing a general setting?

cheers

Think this is also the problem I am seeing.  Have tried various combinations but the front end create upoad questions are always asked no matter which check boxes I un-tick :(

... the number 2 bug seems to be limited to new uploads. Existing ones do not have the category select field disabled.

The 1. bug is still there in 3.2.6.

I figured out that for the upload form a menu item "create download" is used when found, even though this particular menu item is not related in any way to the download category in question. That is very confusing, even more when there are more than one "create download" menu items because no one knows which menu item is used for the upload form in a category.

Yes the 1st bug is still there in 3.2.6 :(  - Arno did not have time to fix it.

But I was a bit confused with

As there is a bug in this area then behaviour might well be illogical!  In the front end all uploads use the same form, which should be 'conditioned' by the User Group Settings  by User Group as to what 'questions' are asked.

I can imagine different User Groups having their Own Create Download with a specific category (I could not reproduce your bug) and also there being a general Create Download where users can select the category themselves.  In that situation I would also setup View Access Levels corresponding to a group or groups so that each subset only saw their own 'create upload' menu item.

Please use the new 'ranking' values in last beta 3.2.9. This should solve the most problems with 'highest level'.
