Do you want to assign a webp image file to every article? Or do you mean every Download in jDownloads? :-\
For example: my website, musicasampler.com, features MIDI karaoke music files by many different artists. Each karaoke track displays a photo of the corresponding artist, uploaded by the administrator. The system only accepts file formats such as JPG and PNG, but it does not support the WebP extension. Here is an example.
Here is a karaoke track by Madonna. The photo of this artist is in JPG format; if it were in WebP format, the file size would be significantly smaller.
