Was mache ich ggf. falsch?
Hi
Where did you find the parameter "Order in frontend as in backend"? There is a setting 'Downloads default frontend sort order' which has many choices but not "Order in frontend as in backend".
Also could you please advise which version of jDownloads and Joomla you are using.
Colin
Thanks for your reponse.
We are using: jDownloads Version 4.0.47 Stable - Datum: 10.04.2025
and settings. Look for
Optionen -> Frontend -> Standard Sortierfolge -> Downloads Sortierfolge and you will found Reihenfolge wie im Backend
Hi
In backend if you click on Components, then on jDownloads and then Downloads on the top right under Options, there is a pull down to select the order of the Downloads in the Backend.
If for example you select Title decending then the Downloads are listed alphbetically in decending order. The sort order for each alphabetic Z,z,Y,y and so on finally followed by Downloads that start with a numerical value.
For example with Title Descending the Download "news letter 2" will be listed before "newsletter 1".
Colin
Thanks for your explanations, unfortunately that isn't the point at all. It seems I have to explain in more detail.
The backend looks fine.
"Ordering descending" was chosen and the ID's are listed 4-3-2
Within the options under the tab frontend we have chosen "Downloads Manager Order"
So we have expected to get on frontend the same order as we have on backend, but that is not the case.
The downloads are shown in the ID-order 2-3-4. That is not the order on the backend.
And that is the issue.
Hi
Are you using a Menu option to display Downloads in the Front Eend? If yes please check check the Download order set in the Menu item
If No which layout are you using?
Colin
Yes, we are using a menu item to display downloads starting with the category list, in order to provide the possibility to the user to choose a certain category.
If I check all the tabs of this menu item type "List All Categories (Default)" I cannot find any parameter about sorting the download. There is only one about the sorting of categories and this one is set to "Category Manager Order"
Hi
Some menu items are used to show categories and others will show Downloads directly.
When installing jD then a Menu item 'List All Categories' is automatically created. This is used by jDownloads itself to as the "start point" for finding categories and Downloads.
Generally with this first menu item I set the option 'Display in Menu' to No. Also make a small change to the name then I create a another List All Categories Menu item for the users.
Colin
Following the suggestion, I added an essentially unnecessary entry, but without any success.
We should recognize that the normal functionality of the rather old version 3.2.69 is no longer fully available with the new version 4.0.47, but there are certainly many other options available. I would like to conclude our discussion with this.
