Title: JDownloads&CloudFlare Turnstile Issue
Post by: mehmettas on 15.07.2025 20:34:39
Hello,

I'm using JDownloads v4.047 with joomla 5.3.2 , PHP 8.3.2, MySQLi 10.5.29-MariaDB. When I activate the CloudFlare turnstile plugin, the file download does not work. I will share the site information if you want to review it. This site is a trial site. I have a backup. I tried it on another site. The same problem appears.

Please help me to solve the problem.
Title: Captcha
Post by: ColinM on 16.07.2025 21:16:50
Hi
The plugin you are seeking to use is a Captcha/Recatcha type.  This will clash with the stadard Joomla Catcha/Recaptca - it is not a jDownloads problem.
However I can assist in setting up the Standard Google based one which is also known as the 'Invisible' type.  As a starting point please look at article 'Using CAPTCHA in Joomla 4 & 5'
This is in the standard jD documention at
https://www.jdownloads.net/documentation?view=article&id=324&catid=27
The most 'challenging part is actually creating a Google account.
Best wishes
Colin

Hi,

Thank you for your interest. I know how to use plugins like recaptcha and hcaptcha.

JDownloads component works with google recaptcha or hcaptcha. I am uninstalling these plugins. And remove the javascript codes from the HTML page.

Then I install the captcha turnstile plugin developed for joomla. Even though I made the necessary adjustments and information correctly, the file download does not work.

Hi
Incidently I have just finished updating the Captcha article - it wasa bit out of date.
You are no doubt aware that jDownloads has a plugin that works with the regular Joomla htaccess.
So I believe that would need some changes to marry with the turnstile software. But I have no idea what these changes might be.

What was the reason for not using the standard Joomla/Google Captcha ?

Hi,

I think Google will charge for captcha after a while. Also, the CloudFlare Turnstile app is new and more functional. I'm trying CloudFlare Turnstile on different sites.

Hmm! I think that is unlikely in the extreme.  But if they did then Joomla would use another version from someone else. Google is not short of revenue

Hi,

The CloudFlare Turnstile plugin works in areas other than JDownloads on the website. Isn't this a JDownloads problem? If you want to review, I can share the site information.

Hi
Yes I am sure that the other captcha plugin works in other areas of Joomla such as Article, Article Categories and so on as the creator would have tested them in the Joomla environment.  But jDownloads requires its own extra plugin - these are developed by Arno, not me!
I will send you a Private Message (PM) - they are secure point to point. It is sfe to put in any details including login items.
