Dear friends,
there exists a (access secured) Joomla 1.5-Version, running jDownloads 1.8.4
We (musicans) like to reinstall / migrate stored songs to Joomla4/5 & jDownloads 4.
Now, it´s on me to find the most reasonable way to do this. Is there a link to any informations, which way one should go? I searched for this way, but didn´t found something.
Thanks you for help.
Hi
That is a very old site! Even earlier than when I started with jDownloads.
Upgrading of jD and Joomla over so many stages could prove challenging. So I would suggest creating a new test site using say XAMMP - there is documentation on this at
https://www.jdownloads.net/documentation/general-items-v3-9/creating-a-joomla-test-site-on-xampp
This test site would be settup with the latest version of Joomla and jDownloads. Your existing Downloadable files could be transferred to your test site using an FTP utility, such as Filezilla, or your sites CPanel File Manager.
When the test site is OK then it can be transferred to your existing site with Akeeba - I would recommend you upgrade to the Pro version as it has more facilities.
There are many detail steps where we can advise and assist.
I will send you a Private Message (PM)
Colin
Dear Colin,
thanks for your answer.
Yes, I know - it is a challange to do the migration. :o
I understand, that it isn't the best way to go via migrations -> J2.5, J3, J4, but only direct J1.5 -> J4 (5)
I am new with this board. Where can I send private messages?
Next week I will have build up J4 with last version jDownloads 4.x and give you a message.
Thanks for help.

Sorry for delay, there were some troubles with my hoster... :'(
A new page is installed, files are transfered, jdownloads installed (empty).
By calling jDownloads is shown:
Warning: Undefined array key 0 in /var/www/webXXXX/html/XX/components/com_jdownloads/src/Helper/JDHelper.php on line 178
Warning: Attempt to read property "uploads_view_upload_icon" on null in /var/www/webXXXX/html/XX/components/com_jdownloads/src/View/Categories/HtmlView.php on line 91
(No category found) - Of course - there is no category installed ;)
How can things continue?
Wish a nice weekend. ;D
