First of all: MANY THANKS for 4.0.9 "pre" beta4 version :) I started with that one and missed the previous ones, but if it would be only up to my needs, I'ld consider it a final RC ... :-*
I found only 1 minor issue so far I would like to mention:
In your config.xml u use several fields extended from FilelistField (1 in fieldset monitoring and 3 in pictures_and_buttons) using a leading slash in the parameter "directory", e.g. directory="/images/jdownloads/catimages/"
This causes a php warning (when display_errors=on) like Warning: is_dir(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/images/jdownloads/catimages/) is not within the allowed path(s)
The fields still work though and the warning has no affect to functionality, but can be avoided without the leading slash ... is at the end probably a J4 issue ... however ;)
Of course for completion my versions (tested on several servers):
Linux OpenSuSE 15.3 and 15.4
PHP 7.4.33 and 8.0.25
Joomla 4.2.6
Also: with above environment I can confirm for 4.0.9 "pre" beta4 version:
Fresh Joomla 4.2.6: installation FINE
Joomla 3.10.11 migrated to 4.2.6 without JD before: installation FINE
Joomla 3.10.11 migrated to 4.2.6 with previous JD 3.9.8.6 and 3.9.8.4 (34 Cats and 102 DL): migration FINE
Only when in last case (my own mistake) I forget to copy files from production to dev server I get a confusing message "You have not supplied a valid HTTP status code" ... with a 404 or "File not found" I'ld have quickly realized ;)
But so far, very gr8 migration :) it was worth waiting for it!

thank you for your positive results. ;)
While cleaning up and testing your reported small bugs, I found another bug in the jDownloads options. It was not possible to activate the old file mime symbols. This was just a typo and will be fixed in the next version 4.0.10. :)
