I'm attempting to transition from 3.9 to 4.0.2. The Joomla 3 and Joomla 4 sites are separate - no upgrades. When I restore the backup on 4.0.2 file I receive the following error:
"You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near '\A RETURN TO GUAM Ling ited tion in !d?KY med as rith the 1 is C...' at line 2"
Some of the backup information is restored, I think up until the error - but a lot of stuff is missing.
I've attached the backup file. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!
Hi
Are you saying that you took a jD Tools Backup on your Joomla 3 site and then did a jD Tools Restore of this backup on your Joomla 4 site?
If so this is not going to work. Also it is not a bug as it was never intended this way. Basically the Joomla! people have changed some of the default settings , particularly for Date fields. Actually this was bought about by PHP8 changes.
There is a distinct 'procedure' to assist in testing the upgrade from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 with jDownloads.

I have also written an initial standalone doc (upgrade to J4.pdf) that you might find helpful.
