News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello,

Suggestions:

1- For other languages, the language files must be in the language or administrator/language folder.
Example: en-GB.plg_system_jdownloads.ini, should not be in the /plugins/system/jdownloads/language/en-GB.

2-Why are the lines in the image not active? There are other inactive lines.

3- JDownloads does not work with Invisible reCAPTCHA even though user group settings are set correctly.
Please check.

4- Is there a daily download limit setting for public users?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hi
Thanks for your input.  Have added some notes below.  The Invisible ReCaptcha one will be supported but probably after we get to a proper 3.9 release - its all about our resources!1

1. Language files.
Joomla! supports multiple locations for modules and plugins language files.  They may be in the the 'main' area used by components and some extensions or they maybe within the extension itself.  The recommendation, which dates back to Joomla! 1.6, is that for extensions then they should be within the extensions directory
https://docs.joomla.org/Manifest_files#Language_files

2. Commented out language strings
During the process of upgrade development it is simpler to just comment out the former language strings during the alpha and beta test stages where thing can change rapidly - and not all changes are correct the first time! At the release candidate/production stage these things get cleaned up.

3 Invisible Captcha
jD 3.9 has not been tested with 'invisible captcha'.  Invisible Captcha apparently works by analysing mouse movements, typing patterns and so on as a mark of human activity.  If these satisfy the relevant algorithm then a Captcha sequence is not entered.  Presently jD always expects a Captcha sequence.  It requires a change of the way jD handles things. This has not been done yet!

4. Daily limit for Public
The downloading limit is on a per user basis with the limt set on a User Group basis.  That requires a logged in user so they may be identified. So there is no limit for publically available Downloads.
Happy New YearColin
