Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Replace file_pic with thumbnail in "Files link and icon" layout?

I've been asked if it is possible to display the thumbnail of a download rather than the less useful filetype/symbol image. Virtually all of our files are PDF so knowing that doesn't add any real information for users. It would be better for them to see an uploaded image (of the first page of the PDF).

I tried simply replacing the {file_pic} placeholder with {thumbnail} but that didn't work. Is what I want to do possible?

More into: when I replaced {file_pic} with {thumbnail} I get image1 (attached). Originally, I saw image 2.

Hi,
Sorrt but his is not really feasible at this time.  It is a good idea as an option.
