Empty categories not hidden when set to hidden - [Fixed in 3.2.53]

I have some empty categories that i will over time back fill.
I have set the front end settings to hide empty categories.
However they aren't completely hidden, I get what is shown in the attached image.
Am i doing something wrong!?

I have just checked this out - and yes it is a bug!
It does occur when "Show empty categories?" is set to No.  Setting of "Show empty categories message" does not affect.
Further if there are several empty categories and some non empty Cats then only those before a non-empty cat are hidden, those after show the place holders {cat-description} and {tags}. see attached pics

Thanks Colin for confirming that it doesn't appear to a a quick in my setup!

It should be fixed in version 3.2.53. Will be published today.
