joomla 3 category tree in article

the previous 'content' plugin does not appear to be part of the new jdownloads for joomla 3 - how do you insert the category tree into an article or module in this version?

The Content plugin is in the current jD3.2 series.  It is automatically loaded as part of the component install/upgrade.  The instructions on use are in the plugin description.
There was in the jD  1.8 series for Joomla! 1.5 a 'Tree' module that showed the categories in a tree style,  this is not in the jD 3.2 series.

The Joomla! 1.5 module to show categories in a tree module has not yet been converted to Joomla! 3.x. So at this time we regret that a module to show in a tree style is not available.

So you should wait a week or two.
