News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

I have the "Tags" feature activated and working thanks to ColinM here at jDownload. Thank you immensely ColinM! You and Arno are terrific!

Mow for my new problem...
I have populated the "Tags" component with many selections and it works perfect except...
When you view a download file page, and then "click" or "touch" one of the tags, another page with the results appears... again we are still perfect!
When viewing those results, there are no images. I believe I have all set correctly, seems most other features respond like I'd expect.

On the results page after you have clicked on a "tag", how do I make the image from my download to appear with each of the results?
I need the name of the tag to appear. It only shows website title and jDownloads Category.

This is really important to me. I patiently await your reply!
I understand this may not be a jDownloads issue directly, please find a moment to help resolve my dilema.

Thank-you greatly,
Terry A, Zahn

Hi Colin! Thank you for your help.

Go to:
http://www.watchawear.com/watches/watch-faces/download/2-watch-faces/301-tribute-ice-watch-big-big-black-orange-chronograph.html
Click on any of the "blue" tags on the left side of page. Here is an example "tags-results" page:
http://www.watchawear.com/component/tags/tag/2-round.html

Thanks in advance for your expertise!

I have added the tag 'qwerty' to 3 downloads.
1. One of these downloads which has an associated image is shown in the first pic - tags01.png
2. If I click on the qwerty tag then I get a list of links to all of the downloads with the tag 'qwerty' as in second picture - tags02.png
3. If next I click on one of the links then I get to the actual download specifically the Details layout which shows the image see pic 3 - tags03.png

Step 2 lists the individual Downloads and I assume that you would like to show the images associated with the download.   Actually could you point me as to how you added the text part that you show at your step 2 please as my knowledge on handling tags is rather poor. :(

Step 2 is handled by the Tags component, it is not jD
I suspect that the only way to get the images you wish to see is to directly link to the required images with your own <img ...  link

All of the images associated with all Downloads are located in /images/jdownloads/screenshots/
and the corresponding thumbnail versions are in /images/jdownloads/screenshots/thumbnails/

The name(s) of the image(s) is stored in the database table <prefix>_jdownloads_files in the images field.  This fielkd contains all of the image names for all the images associated with the particular Download with the relevant Download id.

When I know how to add text etc to the step 2 stage then I may be able to help further.  I suspect you may use a module or plugin for that.

Have just learnt a bit more about Tags. :)

I now see if I use Options button in the Tags Component and set the field Item Description in the Tagged Items Options tab to Show then it extracts and shows the Short Description from the Download.  Also set the field Item Images to Show.  But no image appears.

So I am now able to reproduce your setup.  Please see attached pics.

Colin
PS I have also added a few notes in the article

OK, I see that you added a bit about images. What about actually getting it to work? tags are showing images for K2 articles. Anything we can take from that? is it that jDownload identifies images with a different tag? I really must find a solution to this. My site is 100% image driven. This feature is really needed.

Terry,
Adding Images to Tags is in the work stream.  Arno is investigating and it is accepted as being needed.  Your next question will of course be something like "how long to wait".  That is like asking how long is a length of string to which the only accurate answer is along the lines of "twice as long as half of it".

Within Joomla! there is a defined context of image in a Tag.  It is limited to just the first image in the 'content' so obviously jD will do the same to remain compatible.  The scope of the work needed is seemingly straightforward and outwardly would seem to be just getting the address of the image and putting that in the correct field in the Tags database table.  But the devil is in the detail!

Thanks Colin. I am grateful for the response! Look forward to seeing this. Additionally, Images need to be in the search result of the built in search of jDownloads.

Hi Terry,
please note that they are nearly (or really?) the only user who wants this feature. No one else seems to miss it.

Fact is, that i had tried it but I had problems with the implementation.
We had many more important parts and since this function is not so important for us, we had to stopped the work on it.

So it is currently not planned to add this very soon. We have also not the manpower to add all user wishes.
