News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Basically, I created a menu item. Then I continue to publish the 'JDownloads Featured' module, linking it to that specific menu item. Since this module is now published and linkd to the menu item, all downloads are displayed on that menu item page. Right?

Now, when I click on the download title, NOTHING happens. Will not start downloading immediately, nor will the download details be displayed.

Hi
Perhaps I misunderstand but you do not need a menu item to a module. One just defines where the module should appear, that is the Position in your template. Typically this is a 'sidebar' position.

However you do need to create a menu item using the 'Show All Categories' menu item type.  This will then initially display the top level categories in the main part of the screen display, that is where article usually get displayed - it is sometimes called the Component area.  But you may not wish to allow users to see that display.  In that case make the 'Show All Categories' menu item on a hidden menu or see its view access so only super admins can see it.  jDS needs such a menu link as part of constructing the links to the Downloads.

If you want to display a module in the 'component' area then look at the extensions offered by Creative Labs.
