 When a Joomla component has many functions and a newer version has many new features, it is not ever possible that the test users find all mistakes before it is published. So we have found in the last release a lot of smaller bugs.
I have today published a fixed release 1.7.1 and it is very recommended to update to this new version. You find also a changelog in the download details page.

 Sometimes has users problems when he will changed from a other download component to jDownloads. Many times exist already a lot of data in the other component. So it is not easy to add this manually in jDownloads.
So i planned in the future to publish import scripts which do this work for you. To write a import script is not easy and much work. The aim is, that a script import not only the files, but how many data as possible. But every download component has his own structure, so it is a hard job.
In a first step i have published yesterday a script, that import all possible data from a Remository installation. The import is for categories, files, screenshots, category and files icons, comments from jComments, ratings and more. It is tested on a website with 100 categories and about 2000 files. But i can not give a warrant, that it works with other server configurations or environments. More informations find you in the details download page in the download area here.
By the way, this script was a commissional work for www.haikuware.com but the client has it sponsered for the jDownloads community. Many thanks.

We are proudly to publish the next version from jDownloads.
My specially thank at all translators, tester and other people, which me helped to create this release.
In the version 1.7.0 RC we have added/changed this:
Added:
- Function to move downloads to a other category in the backend
- It is now possible to create easy menu links to a single category, single file and upload form
- Support for content plugins in the downloads description field
- Support now also for the comment component JomComment
- Support for the component Alphauserpoints
- New placeholder for the downloads summary page for viewing the download cost.
- New data fields for downloads: file_date, submitted_by and more
- New options to short automaticly the download description text to a choosen lenght in files layout
- New option to view a download icon link with or without 'Download' text
- New option for the jD lightbox function, so you can now also use a other installed lightbox plugin
- View download stats in the jDownloads backend control panel
- Simple daily download limit option (files per day)
Changed:
- Auto monitoring function: In prior versions it comes to timeouts when in the upload folder exist many thousand files. So it is now possible to start 'special' monitoring function in the control panel manually. This version works with a progress bar.
- Frontend use now the menu pagetitle, when it is set. So the header text field in the configuration is only used, when no menu page title exist.
- Better search functionality (thanks to Peter aka idleog)
- You can now also use jDownloads with PHP 4.x
Bugfixes:
- A few HTML fixes
- Sometimes was the rating symbols not correct viewed
- Missing license text in the category view
- Missing license text in the summary page
- Sometimes java script error in the frontend upload form
- It was not possible to view/download a file in a new browser window
- Problems with uploads, when only the option for changing special characters was activated in the upload configuration
- Sometimes problems with view the icons in the frontend
- Sometimes java script error when you use the lightbox function with sef
and many other little bugfixes.
It is recommended to install also the last content plugin v1.7, when you used it on your Website.

 In the last week, we have received two new language packages for jDownloads 1.6 stable. So it was possible to publish for a week a first Macedonian language package from Ljubisha Ugrenovikj. Yesterday we have then received the long missed French translation package from Claude Lendrevie.
Other new languages are in work. So we hope in the next time also to received Italian and Greece language packages. Many thanks at all translators for her help and assistance!

Update 2010-04-15: Today i have received a corrected French language package from Claude Lendrevie. He has fixed a installation bug. So when you has downloaded in the last 12 hours this file: fr-fr.com_jdownloads.zip, please download it new. The new file name is: fr-fr.com_jdownloads_1.6.zip.
Update 2010-04-26: Today i have received the long missed Italian translation files from ptux. Many thanks.
