migration from 1.9.1 to 3.x
« on: 20.08.2016 17:51:00 »
Hello,

I hope, that I put this in the right board.

I am upgade a joomla site from 2.5 to 3.5. And so I want to migrate from jdowloads 1.9.1 to 3.2 and followed the description "From jD1.9.1.x on Joomla 2.5 to jD3.2 on Joomla 3.2+ ".

I now stuck at the point "xiii Now use the Extension Manager Install to update jDownloads to 1.9.2.11 or later,"
I get no Option to update. An installion of 3.2 fails, saying that 1.9.1 is still installed.

Anybody an Idea, what might be wrong? Any Idea what I should try?

Thanks!

J.

Did you try to install I.9.2.11?
Step xiii is "Now use the Extension Manager Install to update jDownloads to 1.9.2.11 "
This is perhaps ambiguous as it is just a regular install of 1.9.2.11which should update from 1.9.1.6

Thanks, that worked now.

But at the next step, database backup, I get the error:

Fatal error:  Allowed memory size of 104857600 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 17039553 bytes) in [...]/components/com_jdownloads/jdownloads.php on line 4826

strange: the allowed memory size should be enough. It is more than the ammount to allocate ...

I got stuck again....

Maybe would it be easier for you, when i run the  migration job here locally (with your data).
I think i need only the jDownloads backup file  from your old jD version. As result will you get a new backup file which you can restore in your new 3.2.x installation.

It must be much more. So please set it on 254 or 512MB.

thanks for the advice!

I have now decided, to start from scratch with a fresh joomla 3 installation.
Maybe some other sideefffects also would have been occurred.
I think it is easer, with a bit of an effort, to migrate the data to the new installation than working on possibly corrupt system.

I just fiured out, that even in the old Joomla 2.5 installation with jd 1.9.1 the backup fails with an error message from the server.

So I think, I will have to migrate manually, anyway.
