Hi, I have just updated and I have setup everything in the ACL for categorys, but every download has its own ACL, is there any way to bulk the individual files permissions, as they are all set to not allowed. and no one can download anything unless I goto the backend to the file and change it manually, I have over 5000 files on the site, to do this for each one will be a nightmare. Please help  ???

Hi
Help is on its way!  Regrettably in release jD 2.5.15/jD3.2.15 the cascading of permissions from parent to child does not work correctly in auto-monitoring which is used when transferring. :(  This will be fixed in release16 which is due in a day or so. ;D

So it might be better at that time to remove the existing categories (folders) and downloads (files) to another base directory and re-load them later.  There will also be a Tool that will cascade permissions from a selectable category down all the children but this may not make 2.5.16 - will have to see how much Arno can get done :)

If you need any assist in removing folders/file to another base folder please let me know.

Colin

Thanks for your fast response ColinM its appreciated.
I have downloaded all the files off my server, and removed all the categorys that were imported during the upgrade, and created new ones, but after reuploading them, into the new catergorys, I still get the same issue. I guess I will have to wait for the update, not good for my site though my members are going crazy :( I hope this fix comes soon.

Would it be possible to go into the database and change the permissions that way with a sql command and do them all in one go?

Theoretically but if you look at the tables there are lght and rhgt indices to compute. So in practice I think the answer is not really.

That's a shame, back to changing access one by one  ;D still very impressed with the new features though a great component. If theres anything I can do to help speed up the process of a fix, just drop me a message, I am a pretty competent joomla user, and have been using jdownloads for a long time.

Hi,
when you have defined correct the components defaults permissions, and all categories and downloads shall be the same permissions as for the component, it should be possible to change the DB with a small query. When you will, i can do it for you.

But need in this case:
- the newest jD version must be installed
- the jD permissions in the 'options' from the control panel must be defined correct!
- you must have a newer backup from the DB
- need links and login data for your admin and phpmyadmin via PM

Please note that the trick is to change not the permissions before you have a first time saved the new category or download...

Yes I saved the category before checking the access level, and all the categorys have the correct access level, the problem is, the permissions on each file is not inherited.

I deleted all the files and categorys that were improrted when I upgraded, and created new ones, with the correct permissions, but when I upload the files into the new categorys via FTP, none of the permissions are inherited. so its just the files that need changing.

The screenshots show my settings for the JD component, the category permissions match them, but the actual files don't, only super users can download. If you could tell me what to do in the database to change the permissions that would be great and save me a lot of time and stress changing permissions for each individual download, as there's over 7000 of them.

Hi,
with the coming version 2.5.16 should be solved the most problems with the permissions.

Shall all items have the same permissions?
