Download not requiring login
« on: 11.09.2015 15:19:38 »
I have Joomla 2.5.28 and installed jdownloads 2.5.9.
Set up the usergroups and users and access levels for the new categories  in Joomla.
Then went into jdownloads and set up category using those access groups.
If I set the download to these register level groups the actual download doesn't show on the front end.
If I set it to public, it shows but anyone can download.
What is the issue?
Please advise.
I am also using the content plugin and have inserted the {jd_file file==1} in the page.
Please advise.
Driving me nuts!

HELP!!!
Does this work with Joomla login or groups or not? I need to change applications if this doesn't work.
It was working where I click on download button and it had a pop up for typing in username and password.
Now it doesn't
Why?
Content plugin doesn't work?

Hi
First of all have you upgraded Joomla! to version 3.4.4  If you did it a short while ago there was a bug in Joomla! see http://www.jdownloads.com/forum/index.php?topic=8435.0 for a simple fix.  The latest Joomla! 3.4.4 seems to have the bug fixed.

Now your original problem.
What users can see is controlled by the Access View Level.  So if you want everyone to be able to see they exist then set Access level of the top level category to Public
To restrict downloading set the Access Permissions  of the top level Category for Public UG to Inherited - do not use Deny it cannot be undone further down the category chain.  If after Saving the download permissions are still computed as Allowed then go to jD Control Panel and Click on Options button (usually top right).  Set Public Permissions to Inherited.

Now go back to your top lev Category and set Registered UG to Allowed.

All should be OK but if not go to jD Tools and use the reset Permissions buttons.  Then try as above.

Followed your instructions and now I see this?:

And I want it to show the download button but when I click on it, it makes you login to Joomla login .
I swear this functionality was working...
Thank you for your help....

I added a Joomla Login module to the left side that they have to loginto to be able to download.
Is that how the system works?

Hi
Yes the way you have shown in the last two pics is the norm.  At this time jD has no redirection capability related to the download button other than to summary or download details view. As far as I am aware it has never had a redirection ability to a login function.

Ok thank you,

I added a menu link to download directly the download for a different group.
It keeps opening up Download details page and gives a redirect loop error.
How to make the downloads download directly when click link? Links are in red box in screenshot.
Opens up details page that doesn't download anything.
