I use Remository as my download system on my Joomla 2.5.9 website. But I hope I can migrate the whole download system to jDownloads, without losing any file or any valid link.

There was a "importer script" on the download area of this website, but,  it can not work for Joomla 2.5.9.

I hope the author of jDownloads will make a built-in importer , not a separate script, but a built-in function which can be accessed via the sub-menu of jDownloads component.

This importer will not only migrate daba/files from Remository, but also from other download components, such as Docman , JoomDoc, etc.

I understand that Arno does not have so much free time. So I am glad to see this feature will be a commercial one ( maybe a separate plugin so it can be sold ). I will be the first to buy such a plugin.

Thanks.

Hello.
I am not sure that this works, but you can make a local joomla 1.5 installation. Restore then your Remository DB data. Afterwards can you install jD and can try to run the import script here.

But, I had already migrated my whole website to Joomla 2.5 .

I hope there is a importer script can work with J2.5 + Remository 3.5.4 + jDownloads 1.9/2.0 , thanks.

Maybe a separate com_jdimporter component (commercial) is better choice for both developer and other users. People (like me) who needs the importer will buy this importer component, and other users can still use jDownloads for free.

Thanks.

Ok, I can wait for another 3 months.

Take it easy and make a perfect importer when you are ready. And don't forget to make it as commercial component, I will be the first to buy it !

Thanks.

Hi,
i know that i have worked now much longer on the new release as before calculated. But the new release is very complex and some new features are not easy to integrate.
The frontend needs still a few weeks but then can we start with final tests. So is a new import script not possible before January. Sorry.  :-\

Hi, Arno, Congratulations you had released new versions of jDownloads. I think the stable version for Joomla 3 will be ready not long later.

Well, maybe you will have some time to make a "converter/importer" plugin to allow users of other extension turned to jDownloads.

Thank you.

It is a year and a half since last post on this topic. It is also a year and a half since the current version of Remository released. The author of Remository seems will never update it anymore.

You know, Joomla 3.5 is coming. I am afraid the current version of Remository will NOT work with Joomla 3.5.

Do you have some time to make a migrator to help so many Remository users to convert it to jDownloads?

Thank you.

Hi,
it is not planned in the next time to add converters/importers.
Every download manager has very different structure and logic. So to create an importer is very, very much work.

I had for some years written a special script to convert remository data to jDownloads. But this was for a Joomla 1.5 version and is not more compatible with the newer jD series 2.5/3.2.

Joomla 3.5 shall be published soon. But i have not see that it is very different to the currently Joomla version. Only the JString() function must be changed to StringHelper() (when used). But i don't know whether Remository used this.
