 For four weeks have we published the first jDownloads release for Joomla 1.6/1.7. Since that time, we has revised and updated also a few plugins and modules.
You find them in the Download area in this Category.
As next step, we works on a complete new developed jDownloads 2.0 version with MVC architecture. But this work is yet in a early stage and more information comes in the next weeks. For the jDownloads release for Joomla 1.5.x has ended the development and we will only publish bugfixes until end of the year. So it is recommended to move your Website in the next months from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 1.7.
To make it easier for all translators, we have added jDownloads on www.transifex.net. Every interest user can now easy join to a translation team and begin his work. Current search we translators for: Turkish, Norwegian, Greek, Finnish but any new language is welcome. To check what for languages are in work for the component self, you can see it here. It is planned to add all finished languages in the jDownloads stable release (comes next weeks).

Here is the first Joomla 1.6/1.7 compatible release from jDownloads!
Important:
- the functionality is (nearly) the same as the last jD version for Joomla 1.5 - no new features
- the source code is only changed for Joomla 1.6/1.7 and is not new coded (this comes later this year and is in work)
- it is a BETA release. So it is not recommended to use it on a live site
- the new ACL (Access Control List) in Joomla 1.6/1.7 is not supported current. jD used again your own access groups system
- current is only the jD system plugin adapted for Joomla 1.6/1.7 (is installed automaticly with jD)
- all others plugins and modules comes as quickly as possible, latest with the RC version
- the support for JomComment, JComments and Joomfish is temporary removed, until it exists versions for Joomla 1.6/1.7 from this addons
- Alphauserpoint support exists but is not tested in this first beta
- in the moment are only english and german language files included
When you will move your jDownloads download area from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 1.6/1.7 here is a short howto:

Today we have published jDownloads 1.8.2 Stable. It is recommended to update your older version to this new release.
You can not use this jDownloads version for Joomla 1.6. But a compatible release for Joomla 1.6 is in work.
For installing the new release, use the Joomla Installer. It is not necessary to deinstall first the old version. Nothing data are losed. But make sure that you has a Backup from your Database.
Added in this release:
- You can now use new configuration options to create automaticly thumbnails, when the uploaded file is a picture (gif, png, jpg)
- You can now use new configuration options to create automaticly thumbnails, when the uploaded file is a .pdf
- Both functions can you also use in the monitoring function for the download folders
- New options added for blocking IP adresses. So it is not possible for search bots (or others) to download a file
- Separate option added to Remove Empty HTML Tags in the frontend output
- The included jDownloads System Plugin has new functionalities:
- New option to reduce automaticly the amount of download data logs
- You can now use placeholders to view content only for a specially user group. See plugin parameters.
Fixed in this release:
- When it was a layout without checkboxes activated, the message: "Please register..." was not always displayed correctly
- Not all downloads was viewed always, when the Editor Button Plugin was used (fixed for frontend and backend)
- Bug in the jdownloads.js file fixed for the frontend upload form (sometimes problems when file extension used capital letter)
- and other smaller fixes
For the jDownloads 1.8.2 stable release exists in the moment this language packages: Simplified Chinese, Russian, French, Italian, Bulgarian, Bosnian, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Spanish, Lithuanian, Catalan, Polish and Portuguese-Brazil. You find it in the download area. It is not possible to use older language packs from a prior version. So make sure that you update also your used language pack. English and German language files are always included.
