News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello,

after i had upload files via FTP (filezilla) I saw that I had to enter in the jDownloads back end (option categories -  (just enter i don't do any operation) )  to update the "downloads" section files in front-end . Is the only way to do that? Is not automatic the refresh?

Thank you.

Hi
jD, like all other components, is not running all the time so something has to stimulate it.  This is when anyone uses jD.You can use a CRON job that runs periodically- see documentationhttp://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/automatic-publicationat-scheduled-times.
But I advise that you set Config - Minitoring tab - field 'Download Directory Monitoring' to No.  This is beacause if there are multiple concurrent scanning by jD then you can get double entries or your server might time out.
With the present version of jD the safest option is to turn Download Directory Monitor to No.  I also do not use a cron job but always initiate scanning from the jD Control panel - it gives me a nice report1 And Ipersonally like to see what is going on!! :) :)
