News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello Arno,

do I have the chance to assign different download types to different templates besides the default template? For example for TXT files and ZIP files.

If so, how and where do you do that?

Hi
Sorry but the only part of a layout that relates to the downloadable file type is the symbol.

If you set Config - Pictures tab field 'Default image for Downloads' blank then jD will select the symbol automatically by the analysing the file type.

If you have an 'unusual' file type then you can upload a suitable image into <your-site>\images\jdownloads\fileimages using the naming convention <file_type>.png .

In the Front End Create Edit a Download then tick the 'Symbol' field in User Groups Settings -Group Creation/Editing Settings tab if you want a user group to be able to change a symbol.Colin
