News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello,

Can a download button be configured so you point it at a directory containing multiple files, like this:

Merlinia OutBack 5.4.65.7928.zip
Merlinia OutBack 5.4.66.7930.zip
Merlinia OutBack 5.4.68.7938.zip

and it automatically selects the newest one, based on filename or file date?

So then you could have two buttons, "Download latest version" and "View available downloads".

Thanks.

PS. There's something wrong with this forum - the input box doesn't show new lines, so it looks like the text is one long block of text with no line spacing.

Hi,
If you look at the jD Content plugin documentation
http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/overview-and-installation-notes-for-jdownloads-plugins
you can see an example like:
{jd_file cat_latest==12 count==3} lists the 3 latest Downloads added to category with ID 12.
The count can be set as 1 and a single category selected so say {jd_file cat_latest==25 count==1} would show the latest Download created in the category with id 25.
For some more useful notes please see
http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/using-the-content-plugin-in-articles-and-modules

PS to get new lines to show then use the {k} in header - I usualltype a little including a new line and then click on the {k}

Thanks for your reply. Could you please take a look at this:
https://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=715&t=958024
and let me know if your extension can work like that?
Thanks.

Hi
Those users who have access to upload can upload to the relevant category (directory) using FTP.  They can then be made into regular Downloads.
Please note jD offers more than just a file manager.  There are extensive descriptive parts, protection, pricing and so on as may be required.  Most info is held in the associated database tables. And Directories/files can be protected from direct download access
