unable to change CHMOD = no way to change some png in thumbnail or modify PHP

Hello, and many thanks for your nice work.
I have installed the latest jDownloads 1.8.2 Stable Build 854 on my french website using Joomla 1.5.23.
Sounds so good compared to remo...
I am facing 2 problems : please have a look here http://www.imesa.fr/download/viewcategory/3.html
- on top page, I tried to remove the message JPAGE_CURRENT_OF_TOTAL modifying jd_layouts.php, but I am unable to modify the file on y server : the CHMODE stays at 755, no way to change it
- I tried to add some png files to remove the standard PDF png and have something more related to the design of our website. No way to add a file into the directory, the CHMODE stays at 755, no way to change it.
Do you have an idea ?

JPAGE_CURRENT_OF_TOTAL

I used the Joomla pagination function for the jD pagination.
So this text is viewed from Joomla. So i think in the Joomla french language files is missed this string.
But you can remove it also in the activated layouts. See pic.

This is the wron way. The layouts are stored in the database. See the way above.

No way to add a file into the directory, the CHMODE stays at 755, no way to change it.

It is possible that you has a wwwrun problem (See FAQ about this)?
When you can not upload files via FTP in this directory, use the Joomla media manager for it.

Create not double topics... i have deleted the other.

I was told that your extension was great, and that your advises were almost greater.
That's right, thank you for helping a newbie like me : quick and perfect.
Probably I'll need some more help later, and will switch to a commercial release as my website is commercial ...
