News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello Folks,

I'm working with version 3.9.4. I'm a super user and can upload files at will however if I logout and come back as a regular registered member I get this message when I try to upload the same file:
"Error
Save failed with the following error: Invalid file type submitted. File upload aborted." My test file is a small jpg I do not understand what the difference might be.
TIA
Bill

Hi
I assume that you are creating Downloads in the Front end
The actual abilities of what a user is able to do is comtrolled by the User Group they are in.
For the Super User UG the default file types are zip, rar, pdf, txt, doc, gif, png, jpg But for the Registered UG the allowed types are zip, rar, pdf, txt
You can of course change these settings, which are in the Group Creation/Editing tab

For more information the article
https://www.jdownloads.net/documentation-for-v3-9/access-user-group-permissions-v3-9/user-groups-settings-overview-2
may help.
Best wishes
Colin
