Permission issue

Hi,
I have a Category where only Registered users can downloads the files.
But I need than some files inside this category can be download by Public.

I allowed to Public user group download a specific file, but doesn't work.
When I click to the download button, I'm redirect to the category list with this error:
You do not have permission to download the requested file.
Contact the website operator if you are sure that this is incorrect.

I don't understand why I can't download the file.

The Joomla! permission have inheritance for user groups and also for categories to articles (In jD it is Categories to Downloads).So if the containing Cateory has Download permission for Registered then Public users will not see them and get the error message
So the basic Solution is to have two Categories one for Registered and the other for Public. I normally call thes 'Public' and 'Logged On' Also if you set the View Access of the Logged On cat to Registered then public users will not see the category.  Registered users will see both.

Another solution could be to set restrictions only in the Download items. And set on the category level all on allowed.
But I have not tested it.
