Hi,
Having used jdownloads for a long time, I have faced the following issue for a few days on our site :
- Mutimedia player is black, with buttons not displayed (play, forward, rewind)
- The following message appears next to the list of files in a category : "You don't have permission to download this file" (note: it is not clear from the message which file this message refers to).
- This happens for specific users (2 out of 100) when trying to download a specific file inside a specific category. No other file, categories or users seem to be affected.
- Having checked for these users, category and files I have not been able to identify any specific incorrect setting.

Here are the versions I use :
- Joomla 3.7.4
- JDownloads 3.2.54
- PHP 5.6.31
- MySQL 5.5.57
Any clue ?

Apologies for delay in replying but I have been away for a few days.. Could you PM me the details of your site and how to get to the bad categories and so on.
Have you tried with different browsers for the multimedia player - and are you using the HTML version
