Title: 'This web page has a redirect loop' Issue
Post by: andrew222 on 24.12.2014 08:58:37
Hi

I'm using the latest JDownloads package on Joomla! 3.3.6

com_jdownloads_3.2.18_beta_j32.zip

I need to make use of the Download Link or Download button that's added to the editor and it appears to work at first because the file and download button is created but when I click on the actual download button for any of the files I get the following error in the browser

Here's the result after asking my hosting company support:

QuoteThere appears to be a compatibility problem with the default Joomla .htaccess redirects and the plugin you are trying to use. We see that you have installed JDownloads 2.5. From the site of the vendor, it appears that the plugin version numbers that are meant to be run with Joomla 3.x (the branch that you are using) start with 3.x. We suggest that you make sure that you are using the latest version of the plugin that is meant to be used with the Joomla branch your site runs. If the problem persists, please contact the software vendors for help, or get back to us here. We will try to troubleshoot this matter further for you.

QuoteThanks for checking.
Where did you see the V2.5 installed?

Attached is a screenshot showing anything related to JDownloads and all are 3+. Nothing at all related to 2.5.

QuoteIt is what is written within your PHP files in the /home/username/www/www/newsite/components/com_jdownloads/ directory. They all have this text at their beginning:

* @package jDownloads
* @version 2.5

We do not have access to your software's administrative interfaces.

Any help is appreciated with this as I'm all out of things to check.

Many thanks,

Andrew

Hi
In order to assist on something like this we will almost certainly need admin access to your site.  So could you please send details by Private Message.  Note no hurry as its Christmas and ....

You could try disabling the modules and the plugins except the ones you need.  Also there is a Joomla problem with Caching so p-lease try turning off Joomla cahing or any other extension providing caching.  The next release (very soon) has a method in the System Plugin supports Cache Control for Forms  see http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/cache-control-forms  This may be the problem but probably not!

Also try disabling SEO.

Note I do not have these problems on my test site (and others) so it probably local.  What hosting provider do you us?

I am not sure that it solved your problem, but you should deactivate the jD example plugin and should also use not both button plugins. The content plugin button is the most important from this two.

Many thanks for the replies.

I had to switch to a paid component as my client needed something up and running straight away with no issues for the New Year but will check back again with JDownloads in the near future. Arno, I will try your solution if it arises again in another site.

Cheers & Happy New Year..... we're almost there  :)

We had this exact same issue on a clients site recently, it was the Joomla caching in the end! Seem to have no end of problems with Joomla caching.
