I done a bulk ftp import put putting lots of folders in jdownloads folder. Jdownloads was able to add all these folders and files in joomla backend. I have over 600 folders (organised in subfolders aswell.)

I then started publishing these folders 100 at a time, I got 500 published folders and in front end any jdownloads (menu component feature) worked and showed downloads as usual with all my folders. I have just over 650 folders, and as I published the rest of the folders I just got a blank screen frontend. So somewhere above 500 there is a problem not allowing more than a certain amount of folders to be shown (I'm not sure if this effects files too).

Happy bug tracking!

When you has more as 400 - 500 categories, it comes to timeouts.
So the only way is current to deactivate the categories select box in the frontend options. This is viewed as default in the header from the jD frontend output.

I know this problem but a fast solution is not possible current.
